McLennan Lake to Churchill River-Kemp/Gunboat Bay Route

About this Canoe Route

McLennan Lake to Churchill River-Kemp/Gunboat Bay Route

Explore more of the Canadian Shield on this route between McLennan Lake and Missinipe. From your put-in at Bear's Camp to your take-out at Missinipe -for which Montreal River Outpost is available to provide shuttle service- you will be treated to gorgeous scenery and the sounds of nature that comes with wilderness canoeing.

The first stretch of the trip is in the McLennan Lake Canoe Area. Explore medium-sized lakes like McLennan, Davis, and Versailles. Paddle around massive Sandomirsky Island on Colin Lake. As you leave McLennan Lake Canoe Area, you enter Solymos Lake, then Stempel Lake, followed by Luther Lake.

Between Kemp and Hood Lake, there are two options. One is lining rapids in a creek and the other is two long, wet portages interlaced by a small lake.

The transition between Mountain Lake and Otter Lake has two options, both extraordinary. The more efficient route is to portage Twin and Robertson Falls; if you prefer to portage North Falls, it adds about five kilometres to your excursion.

Finish your trip by navigating the islands of Otter Lake. A great northern Saskatchewan trek!
