Montreal River Bigstone to MRO
About this Canoe Route
Montreal River Bigstone to MRO
We are blessed with an exhilarating whitewater run a short shuttle from our front door. The Bigstone run is worth checking out if you want accessible rapids to practice on before the big trip or if you have a couple hours to spare while passing through.
The Bigstone Run is characterized by fast-flowing, class II rapids with standing waves & boulders. There is a well-defined channel created back in the day, before there were roads up here, made by barging logs and equipment.
This short run of whitewater rapids is a great way to spend a couple hours going down the river. If you're in La Ronge and want to play in some water, head over to Montreal River Outpost for a shuttle to the top of the river and paddle down to our dock on Lac La Ronge behind MRO to finish.
